Sumit Mittal, Founder
Kavaach was founded by Sumit Mittal, who spent 15+ years in banking working both sides of the desk: advising individual and private banking clients on one side, and corporate and institutional clients on the other.
On the personal side, he watched people buy a health or life policy around a big moment, a new home loan, a new child, a health scare, and then rarely look at it again until something went wrong. On the corporate side, he watched the same pattern play out at a different scale: a business would take out a group health or liability policy once, often to satisfy a lender or a compliance requirement, and file it away even as the company's headcount, assets, and risks changed every year after.
Two very different kinds of customers, the same gap: insurance gets sold once, and almost nobody comes back to check if it still holds up. Per IRDAI's own FY25 annual report, mis-selling complaints in life insurance alone rose past 26,000 in a single year, and claims-related grievances across life and health crossed 1.2 lakh, numbers that matched what Sumit had already seen up close, on both sides of the business.
That's why Kavaach exists to be the 'after' for individuals and businesses alike: not two separate offerings, but one saathi that stays through the life of the policy, for as long as it's needed. That's what 'Aapke Insurance Ka Saathi' means to us.
