Marine / Cargo Insurance
If you ship goods, someone is carrying the risk between your warehouse and your customer. A review checks that it's actually the insurer, and not you.
What we look at in your marine / cargo insurance policy
Marine cargo insurance covers goods in transit by sea, air, rail or road. Businesses often hold an open cover set up years ago, or buy transit-by-transit cover when a customer asks for it. Either way, gaps appear: new routes, new Incoterms, higher shipment values, or clauses that don't cover the kind of loss your goods are most exposed to. A Kavaach review reads the policy against how you actually ship today.
- Open cover vs. specific voyage policiesWhether your shipping volume and pattern suits an annual open cover with declarations, or individual policies.
- Institute Cargo Clauses (A, B or C) and inland transit clausesWhat level of peril coverage you hold, and whether it matches the goods and routes.
- Limits per conveyance and per locationWhether the maximum per truck, container or warehouse matches your largest real shipments.
- Incoterms and insurable interestWhether your policy lines up with who bears risk at each point under your sales and purchase contracts.
- Warehouse-to-warehouse and storage extensionsWhere cover starts and stops, and whether transit storage is included.
- Claims documentation and survey requirementsWhat the insurer expects at the time of loss, so a claim isn't lost on paperwork.
Who should reach out
Exporters and importers; manufacturers and distributors moving goods across India by road or rail; e-commerce and D2C brands with high-volume domestic transit; anyone who has had a transit claim reduced or rejected.

Kavaach is not an insurer, broker or agent. A review is a second opinion on fit and coverage, not a recommendation to buy, switch or cancel. We do not guarantee premiums, savings or approval. Whatever path you pick, the decision stays with you.
Frequently asked questions
Our transporter provides insurance. Isn't that enough?
Carrier liability is usually limited and conditional. It's not the same as cargo insurance in your name. We'll show you the difference in your specific contract.
What's the difference between ICC (A) and ICC (C)?
ICC (A) is 'all risks' subject to exclusions; ICC (C) covers a narrow list of named perils. The right choice depends on the goods, the route and the price. The review lays out the trade-off.
We only ship occasionally. Do we need an open cover?
Probably not. Specific policies per shipment may suit you better. We'll say so if that's the case.
Can this be bought on the self-serve portal?
Marine cargo is a specialised line. Start with a Saathi conversation; we'll tell you honestly what the portal can and can't handle.
