Travel Insurance

Travel policies are often bought in the last five minutes before a trip. A quick review makes sure the cover matches the destination, not just the visa checklist.

What Kavaach reviews

What we look at in a travel insurance policy

Travel insurance tends to be bought to satisfy a visa requirement or ticked as an add-on at checkout. That's fine for the paperwork; it's less fine if you fall ill abroad and discover the medical limit is a fraction of local hospital costs. A Kavaach review checks the policy against your actual trip: where you're going, for how long, what you'll be doing, and who's travelling.

  • Medical cover limit for the destinationWhether the emergency medical sum insured makes sense for hospital costs in the countries you're visiting.
  • Pre-existing conditionsMost travel policies exclude them unless declared; we check what's excluded and whether a declaration or an alternative plan helps.
  • Trip cancellation, interruption and delayWhat events trigger a payout, what's excluded, and what documentation the insurer expects.
  • Baggage, passport and personal liabilityLimits per item, delays versus loss, and whether liability cover is included.
  • Activity exclusionsTrekking, skiing, diving and similar activities are often excluded by default. We check the list against your plans.
  • Multi-trip and family policiesWhether an annual multi-trip policy or a family floater fits better than single-trip cover, for frequent travellers.
The coverage gap

Cover that was right once, and drifted

Policies stay fixed; lives, cities and businesses don't. The gap between what you're covered for and what you'd actually need tends to open slowly and silently. A review measures it.

Health cover vs. city hospital costs62%
Term cover vs. family need45%
Motor IDV vs. market value80%
Property sum insured vs. rebuild cost55%

Illustrative only. These are conceptual examples of how cover can drift from need over time, not statistics, benchmarks or a prediction for any policy.

Two ways to go about it

Choose how you want to handle Travel Insurance

Both paths are complimentary and both end the same way: you decide.

Compare it yourself

Prefer doing it on your own? Use the Kavaach self-serve portal to compare and buy directly, at your own pace.

  1. Enter your mobile number
  2. Verify with the OTP you receive
  3. Compare plans on the dashboard and buy
Compare on insurance.kavaach.in
Opens in a new tab. Policies are issued by the respective insurer and placed through a licensed IRDAI-registered insurance broker.

Kavaach is not an insurer, broker or agent. A review is a second opinion on fit and coverage, not a recommendation to buy, switch or cancel. We do not guarantee premiums, savings or approval. Whatever path you pick, the decision stays with you.

Frequently asked questions

I already have travel cover through my credit card. Is that enough?

Sometimes. Card-linked covers vary widely in medical limits and conditions. Send us the card's insurance terms and we'll tell you what it does and doesn't include for your trip.

How soon before travel should I review?

Ideally a week before, so there's time to adjust. If you're leaving tomorrow, send it anyway; we'll flag the essentials.

Does travel insurance cover my parents visiting from abroad?

Inbound visitor cover is a different product from outbound travel cover. Tell us the situation and we'll explain what applies.

Can I buy travel insurance on the self-serve portal?

The portal is built for comparing and buying policies yourself after a mobile-number and OTP verification. Availability of specific lines can change, so check the dashboard or ask your Saathi.
