Health Insurance

Your health policy is the one you'll lean on at the worst possible moment. A review now means fewer surprises at the hospital desk.

What Kavaach reviews

What we look at in a health insurance policy

Most people buy a health policy once, often alongside a home loan or a new job, and then renew it every year without opening the document. Meanwhile, hospital costs move, the family grows, and the policy quietly stays the same. A Kavaach review looks at the policy you already have, what it would actually pay in a real claim, and whether it still fits the people it's meant to protect.

  • Sum insured vs. real hospital costsIs the cover enough for a serious hospitalisation in the city you live in today, for the whole family on the policy?
  • Waiting periods and what's still inside themPre-existing disease and specific-illness waiting periods, and whether a mid-term change would reset them.
  • Room rent limits and proportionate deductionsA room-rent cap can shrink the entire claim, not just the room bill. We check whether yours has one and what it means.
  • Sub-limits, co-pays and disease capsCaps on specific treatments, mandatory co-payments, and zone-based pricing that changes what you get back.
  • Exclusions and consumablesWhat the policy won't pay for, and whether non-payable items like consumables are covered by a rider.
  • Restoration, no-claim bonus and portabilityWhether your sum insured restores after a claim, how your cumulative bonus has grown, and what portability would and wouldn't carry over.
  • Network hospitals near youWhether the hospitals you'd actually go to are in the cashless network of your insurer.
The coverage gap

Cover that was right once, and drifted

Policies stay fixed; lives, cities and businesses don't. The gap between what you're covered for and what you'd actually need tends to open slowly and silently. A review measures it.

Health cover vs. city hospital costs62%
Term cover vs. family need45%
Motor IDV vs. market value80%
Property sum insured vs. rebuild cost55%

Illustrative only. These are conceptual examples of how cover can drift from need over time, not statistics, benchmarks or a prediction for any policy.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to change my health insurer for a review?

No. A review is about the policy you already have. Many reviews end with 'keep it, but add a top-up' or 'keep it, but fix the nominee'. Switching is one option among several, and it's your call.

What documents do you need?

Your policy document (PDF or photos of the schedule pages) and the name and age of the people covered. If you have a recent renewal notice, that helps too.

Will a review affect my no-claim bonus or waiting periods?

A review itself changes nothing about your policy. If you later decide to port or switch, we'll explain what carries over under IRDAI's portability rules and what doesn't, before you decide.

What is a top-up or super top-up, and do I need one?

A top-up adds cover above a deductible, usually at a much lower premium than raising the base sum insured. Whether it fits depends on your base policy and your family's needs; that's exactly what the review looks at.

How long does it take?

Most individual health reviews come back within one to two working days on WhatsApp.
