Group Health Insurance

A group health policy is usually the biggest benefit on your payroll after salary. It deserves a second look before every renewal, not just when a claim goes wrong.

What Kavaach reviews

What we look at in your group health insurance policy

Group health policies are typically taken when a company crosses a headcount milestone or a client asks for it, and then renewed each year by the same person who is also running payroll, compliance and hiring. Headcount changes, families grow, and the policy stays the same. A Kavaach review looks at the actual policy, the claims experience, and what your team would experience at a hospital desk.

  • Sum insured per employee and family definitionWhether the cover per life is realistic for your city, and how spouse, children and parents are defined and covered.
  • Room rent, co-pay and sub-limitsCaps that shrink claims for employees, and whether parental cover carries a co-pay your team doesn't know about.
  • Maternity, newborn and day-one coverWaiting periods waived or not, maternity limits, and whether pre-existing conditions are covered from day one as promised.
  • Claims experience and loss ratioWhat the last year's claims look like and how they're driving your renewal premium.
  • Additions, deletions and mid-term joinersHow new employees get added, how exits are handled, and whether premium is refunded pro-rata.
  • Exclusions, network and TPA serviceWhat's excluded, which hospitals are in-network near your offices, and how the claims desk actually performs.

Who should reach out

Founders and HR or finance leads at companies with roughly 10 to 500 employees; firms whose headcount or family cover has changed since the policy was first taken; anyone whose renewal quote has gone up without a clear explanation.

Compare it yourself

Prefer to start on your own? Use the Kavaach self-serve portal to verify your number and compare what's available for your business. Some commercial lines need a person to compare wordings; if yours isn't listed, your Saathi picks it up from there.

  1. Enter your mobile number
  2. Verify with the OTP you receive

Kavaach is not an insurer, broker or agent. A review is a second opinion on fit and coverage, not a recommendation to buy, switch or cancel. We do not guarantee premiums, savings or approval. Whatever path you pick, the decision stays with you.

Frequently asked questions

Our renewal premium jumped this year. Why?

Usually a combination of last year's claims, medical inflation, and changes in age profile or family cover. A review separates the parts you can influence from the parts you can't.

Can employees top up the group cover themselves?

Many insurers offer a voluntary top-up for employees to buy at their own cost. We'll check whether yours does, and whether it makes sense alongside a standalone individual policy.

We're a 12-person startup. Is group health even worth it?

Small-group policies exist and can be cost-effective, but the terms vary a lot. A review of the quotes you have, or of the policy you already hold, is the fastest way to find out.

Does Kavaach handle the renewal for us?

Kavaach reviews and explains. If you decide to act, the policy is placed through a licensed IRDAI-registered broker and issued by the insurer. You stay in control at every step.
